Parish Council of Catholic Women (PCCW)
The Holy Spirit PCCW recognizes all parish women as members of our organization and invites
each woman of the parish to share in strengthening our common faith and community life by
gathering together, every other month, for prayer, service and social time that is filled with food
and fun! Our desire is to better pattern our lives after the Blessed Virgin Mary, more fully know
and love her Son and grow ever-closer to God.
Our history is illustrious. As long as Mass has been celebrated in our church, the PCCW's
engagement with worship has been significant. We've cleaned the immediate sanctuary around
the altar; washed and ironed altar linens; provided what was needed to celebrate Mass,
including purchasing the bread and wine, and; led the rosary before the 8 a.m. Mass on each
Lord's Day . We still do most of these things today!
Our present is compelling. The PCCW's commitment to the parish community has been life-
changing . . . one person at a time. We make and deliver meals for those recovering from
childbirth, illness or surgery; knit prayer shawls for those needing to feel God's embrace; sew or
purchase bassinet items for babies; and, through relationships built across the years, support
and care for one another. We also engage in local and global mission through advocacy,
education, fund-raising and the provision of grants or gifts.
Our future is limitless. Through word and deed, the PCCW longs to exult with Mary:
"My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my savior . . . He has
cast down the mighty from their thrones and lifted up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with
good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. . . . he has remembered his promise of mercy . . . Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and the Holy Spirit."
Please come and help to create something magnificent.
